Holiday shutdown to reduce Co2

Computers Off is a campaign to get each user to lower his or her emissions by powering down.

16 million computer users asked to shutdown to save 203,692 Tons CO2 Emissions over the holiday period

SYDNEY – Monday, 22 December 2008, – Computers Off Australia (COA), the not-for-profit Green IT education campaign and labelling initiative, developed to help reduce Australia’s IT carbon footprint has today requested that one third of the computer users (16 million)across Australia shut down their work and home PC during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Powering off these computers will help save 203,692 Tons CO2 Emissions and $34 million in power costs during this traditional holiday period.
